Stichting Wiesje was founded to improve the living conditions and care available for people living with dementia in Suriname. The organization provides day care, residential care and knowledge support, with a focus on professional guidance, dignity and a home-like environment.
The need for dementia care in Suriname is growing, while specialized residential facilities remain limited. Through the expansion with new residential units, Stichting Wiesje can offer more people a protected and supportive living environment where they receive the care, structure and attention they need.
Staatsolie Foundation contributed USD 100,000 toward this project. The support forms part of a larger effort to expand Stichting Wiesje’s care complex and increase capacity for people with dementia. With the new units, the organization strengthens its role as an important care and knowledge centre for dementia in Suriname.
Through this contribution, Staatsolie Foundation supports better access to specialized healthcare and long-term care for a vulnerable group in society. The project contributes to dignity, safety and quality of life for residents, while also supporting families who depend on reliable and compassionate dementia care.
