Background Information

Stichting Matoekoe provides care, guidance and education to children, young people and young adults with developmental challenges. The organization focuses on what pupils are able to do, helping them strengthen their individual abilities, confidence and sense of self-worth through therapy, education and creative stimulation.

Before the project, creative activities such as candle making were carried out in an old and deteriorated learning workshop, while the pottery facility could no longer be used. These activities are important because they help pupils improve concentration, fine motor skills and practical abilities in a calm and structured setting.

With Staatsolie’s support, a new practice space was realized for Matoekoe’s pupils. The space is intended for activities such as pottery and candle making, giving pupils a safer and more suitable environment to learn, create and develop. Products made by the pupils can also contribute to the foundation’s income through sales.

Through this project, Staatsolie supports inclusive development and better learning conditions for a socially vulnerable group. The new practice space strengthens Matoekoe’s ability to guide pupils in a positive, practical and dignified way, while giving them more room to grow, participate and build confidence.
