The gym hall of Surinaamse Technische School 2 had deteriorated to the point where students could no longer make full and safe use of the space. A school gym hall is more than just a sports facility: it supports movement, discipline, teamwork and student wellbeing. For a technical school, where students spend many hours in practical and theoretical learning, access to a proper sports space is an important part of a balanced school environment.

With Staatsolie’s support, the gym hall was renovated and transformed into a safer and more usable facility. The renewed space gives students the opportunity to take part in physical education and school activities in an environment that is better suited to learning, movement and recreation.

The project supports youth development by encouraging students to be active, work together and build confidence. It also strengthens the school’s ability to offer a more complete educational experience, in which academic, technical and physical development all have a place.

Through this contribution, Staatsolie invests in the wellbeing and development of young people in technical education. The renovated gym hall helps create a more positive school environment and gives students a renewed space where sports, energy and school spirit can come together.
