Diakonessenhuis received a new endoscopy tower set from Staatsolie to support the hospital’s care for patients with stomach and intestinal complaints. The donation came at an important moment, because the hospital’s previous tower was no longer functioning properly. As a result, patients could not be assisted as needed and important examinations and treatments were delayed.
An endoscopy tower set is a specialized medical system that allows doctors to look inside the gastro-intestinal tract using a flexible tube with a camera. This makes it possible to detect and treat conditions at an early stage, often without the need for invasive surgery. With the new equipment, Diakonessenhuis can again perform essential examinations and provide care with improved image quality and greater certainty for patients and medical staff.
The donation has a value of USD 145,000. During the official handover, Staatsolie emphasized that investing in healthcare is an investment in Suriname, as stronger medical facilities directly contribute to the wellbeing of the community. Diakonessenhuis also expressed its appreciation, noting that the equipment makes a significant difference for both patients and healthcare providers.
Through this contribution, Staatsolie helps strengthen national healthcare capacity and supports the professionals who provide critical care every day. The project aligns with Staatsolie’s broader commitment to social investment, particularly in areas that improve quality of life and access to essential services in Suriname.
