Background Information

O.S. Balingsoela is located in the Balingsoela community in the district of Brokopondo. For children in the area, safe and accessible recreational spaces are important for play, movement and social development. A playground creates a place where children can be active, interact with others and enjoy healthy outdoor activities close to school and home.

The playground project was developed as part of Staatsolie’s 45th anniversary social investment initiatives. In consultation with Staatsolie Power Company Suriname, the project was selected as a meaningful contribution to the Balingsoela community. The playground was constructed at an agreed location between the Apostolic church and the blue building, making it accessible to children from the school and the wider community.

With Staatsolie’s support, financial assistance was provided for the construction of the playground. The project supports recreation, child development and community wellbeing in Balingsoela. By investing in a safe play environment, Staatsolie contributes to the social development of children and supports a community space that can be used and enjoyed by families for years to come.
